30 August 2026 — McLeans Island, Canterbury
One of the important national events in the development pathway for New Zealand's young golfers.

Te Arai Links South Course, Auckland Region
This is arguably the most internationally important golf tournament still to come in New Zealand during 2026.
The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship will be played at Te Arai Links' South Course from 29 October to 1 November 2026.
The championship brings together leading male amateur golfers from across the Asia-Pacific region.
And the prize is enormous.
The champion receives an invitation to the following Masters Tournament and an exemption into The Open Championship, while runners-up also receive significant Open qualifying opportunities.
Past competitors in the championship have included players who later became significant figures in international professional golf, including Hideki Matsuyama, Cameron Smith, Min Woo Lee and New Zealand's Ryan Fox.
Why Te Arai Matters
The South Course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and opened in 2022.

Although our Top 50 later in this guide focuses on the North Island, no serious guide to golf events in New Zealand can ignore the New Zealand Open.
The tournament is one of the country's great sporting events.
The 2026 edition carried a NZ$2 million prize purse and was co-sanctioned within major Asia-Pacific professional golf structures.
The 2026 title was won by New Zealand's Daniel Hillier, and organisers subsequently confirmed the February 2027 dates.
