Proposed New School Bus Route

Pt Chevalier • Westmere • Ponsonby • Grey Lynn → Avondale College

We’re exploring a new daily school bus service — built by the community, for the community.

Kiwi Coaches is gathering expressions of interest for a dedicated morning and afternoon school bus route serving Avondale College & Intermediate students living in Pt Chevalier, Westmere, Ponsonby, and Grey Lynn.

This would be a students-only service, designed around real demand, with pick-up points and timings shaped to best suit local families.

✅ What we’re proposing

  • Daily return service (morning + afternoon)

  • Exclusively for Avondale College & Intermediate students

  • Tailored route & pick-up points based on sign-ups - We can use AT bus stops or anywhere that we can safety pull over to deliver children safe, dry and on time.

  • Full-term and half-term passes available - Full term passes are for unlimited rides morning and afternoon during the term. Half day terms passes ideal for students who would only require rides some days, or in morning or afternoon only.

  • Minimum 30 students required to make the route viable, please reach out to friends and family in the region.

This page is simply about measuring interest — no commitment yet.

Safe, secure, and parent-friendly

  • Tag-on / tag-off system for every student, see real time when your child boards, and track total rides.

  • Live GPS tracking — so you never miss a pick-up or drop-off

  • Professional, police-vetted drivers

  • Well-maintained, NZTA-compliant vehicles

It’s the peace of mind of a school service, without the stress of daily driving.

Better for students. Easier for families.

  • Saves time for parents and caregivers (Average school commute in Auckland is over 50 minutes a day!)

  • Students travel together with peers — building friendships beyond the classroom

  • Less congestion around school gates

  • Fewer cars on the road = more environmentally friendly

This route could even become a real-world sustainability or transport case study for students.

Built around your suburb

If there’s enough interest, we’ll:

  • Map the route around actual student addresses to find the best pick up locations (Map shown is just one option)

  • Select safe, practical community pick-up points (Safe, Dry, Convenient).

  • Fine-tune timings to balance efficiency and convenience

Your sign-up directly shapes the service.
